Athens66's Countdown to "4"

Athens66 decided to make a tribute countdown to Papakaliati's (Greek Actor/Producer/Director/Screenwriter/Modern-God) upcoming TV series "4". It's coming up in Mega TV on October 12th at 23:00 and we can barely wait. To pay our respect to this amazing event, we have created a countdown widget (permanently on the right side of our blog) just for the occasion. Feel free to spread the word (and Papakaliati's wisdom) and use the widget as well on your own blog/site. Respect!!!

Vampire Weekend bring on a White Sky

Vampire Weekend are working on their new material, expected to be released in January of 2010 and titled Contra. White Sky is one of the first tracks coming from the new album. Enjoy.

PS. Song hosted on our favorite indie rock cafe.

The Downside of not living in Reykjavik

We may have had our night out here in Athens but up north in Reykjavik there was another free-entrance party. Gus Gus played an album releace concert at Nikita Garden for their latest album titled 24/7.

Their first single is also out titled Add this Song. The album is a bit too techno-dance for me but the full version of this song isn't half bad (although not even close to their old tracks).

And speaking of old tracks, here's an amazing live performance from back in time and their song Believe. Those were the Gus Gus that we came to love (when they were still counted 9). Thanks to gsus for posting this one!

Old and New Sessions

This is why I still love Sons and Daughters! Taken of'course from an oldie Blogotheque (In a Van Sessions). We saw Vincent Moon last night downtown in Booze. Was quite nice, although we only stayed at the ground floor (guess the best was upstairs). Still, Mitera Falaina Tyfli's performance was quite inspiring.Let's wait and see how it turns out.

Fucking Google...but who cares anymore...I've got my Papillon

So they removed my video from Youtube and deleted my post...but what the heck...here's the official one (although it's been aired a couple of weeks now).

PS. It's insteresting how many more songs are titled Papillon. Take for example The Airborne Toxic Event (which is quite known actually).

PS2. However, the more rare one is this one from Rilo Kiley, taken from their debut The Initial Friend E.P back in 1999. Now this is a real charm!

Poplie Web Radio...Tune in!

And from an ending (hopefully temporary) to a new beginning...Poplie web radio has just gone on air (or on net to be precise) with some of our favorite bloggers behind the mic. Tune in!

Nooooooo...Bring IndiePassion Back...Fucking Google!!!

A few hours ago, one of our favorite blogs and sources of indie music has been closed down by Google. The Passion of Indie Music is no longer available. Hope all this bullshit with Blogspot and Google are sorted out quickly, cause we are really missing out on one of our most valuable sources. Respect to IndiePassion!!

Fuck Buttons are Fucking Back!!

Yeap...it's true. The dynamic electro duo from Bristol that simply suprised everyone last year with their debut Street Horrrsing is finally back. Last year they offered as their pure experimental - electro meets noise - sound. This year they are back with their follow-up titled Tarot Sport (out in October on ATP/R label as always).

The new album will certainly be more accessible to more people out there since it tends to be more on the electro side rather than the noise side. Nevertheless, it still offers Fuck Button's unique signature of edgy patterns and endless loops. I'll be honest, I just loved their new material but then again I also loved their debut album, so I ain't totally unbiased. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it to everyone with just one small tip. Play it fucking loud!!!

Rammstein fill some German Pussy

Rammstein are back and this time harder than ever... literally! Their new video is bascially a hardcore vid and is appropriately titled Pussy. Following is the censored version on YouTube...but check out the uncensored one here! (officially hosted on a pornsite)

Dial M for another Murder

Dial M for Murder are a new indie-pop duo from Sweden. Their debut album Fiction of Her Dreams just came out and is worth more than a couple of spins (as everything coming off Scandinavia these days). Here's their first song Oh no! Enjoy!

Throw me the Statue and the Hi-Fi Goon

It's the comeback of one of our favorite obscure indie bands. Throw me the Statue released their new album Creaturesque. A more pop/rock and less twee sound in a quite welcomed swift. Here is their track Hi-Fi Goon. Highly recommended!

PS. You've probably noticed that I keep posting songs this week...this is just cause I'm overflooded with work to find time for proper posts!

Sick of Metric

Logos coming up!

Another lengthy absence due to work (was off to Damascus, Syria for a bit). So until I get back in business, here's a cool song for a laid-back Sunday afternoon. It's Logos from the new Atlas Sound album entitled Logos as well. Enjoy!

The Team

Athens66 started off as a common project by a bunch of friends but quickly turned into almost a personal blog (although some remains of previous posts can still be found). Currently, the Team has been narrowed down to two members, who besides being old friends and schoolmates share the same joy for Music, Movies, Alcohol and Pro Evolution sessions.

The sole purpose of this blog is to shout out whatever comes in mind about movies, music, reality, fantasy and all the rest. Nothing posted here is to be taken seriously, but then again what is? Since this blog is still quite fresh, we are definitely open to suggestions and directions (although most of them will just be ignored)
