So, this is the second part of a great year..most of these albums I've talked about during the course of 2008 as well so I don't think you'll find many suprises. And with this completed, we can now turn our attention to 2008 from our next post!
10 Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Swedish pop at its best..you either love it or love it!!
9 The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
It would have been a real feat if they were able to surpass their debut…nevertheless this was a really solid follow-up…they still remain the best band to come out the last few years
8 Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
It would have be much lower in the list if it wasn't for The Past Is A Grotesque Animal…but then again, we heard this record so many times last year that it deserves it's place..
7 Beirut - The Flying Club Cup
Another amazing follow-up…Beirut serves another great album and remains one of our favourite artists…
6 LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
This is perhaps the album I heard most times in bars last year…hit after hit from James Murphy who established himself as the godfather of New York's new electronic dance scene
5 Burial – Untrue
Another album that kept on playing on my playlist all year round…Amazing dubstep that brings back memories of London..
4 Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals
Our biggest letdown in this year's Roskilde festival…just because we weren't able to see them due to a personal (mine!) injury…An amazing album that redefined the borders between rock and ethnic music and paved the way to a number of bands in 2008..
3 Radiohead - In Rainbows
How can a band that has reached its peak years ago continue producing amazing records? Well…only Radiohead know the answer…This album really shines with time…
2 Battles – Mirrored
How can a math-rock band reach no.2 on my list? Simply put, Battles just blew my mind with their debut album…I agree, they are not intended for everyday listening or major air time …but they fucking rock!!
1 The National - Boxer
No surprise here...Matt Berninger and his friends produced an amazing album that I can only define as Tindersticks made in the US…From the first listen it became my favourite album of the year…Still can't stop singing...another uninnocent elegant fall into the unmagnificent lives of adults..
