2008's Top 100 Albums [100 - 91]
So here we go with the first bunch of albums for this year's Athens66 Top 100 Albums of 2008. Hopefully we'll get to No.1 before the end of the year but you never know..
100. The Breeders - Mountain BattlesAfter a number of years they return with a solid album retaining in most parts their original sound
99. Drive by Truckers - Brighter than Creation's DarkI've never been a true fan of Drive by Truckers and this one was quite an enjoyable album but still not hitting all the right spots for me
98. The Bug - London ZooKind of reminded me last year's masterpiece from Burial but not quite.
97. Rodes - Silent DiscoNot sure if this is a 2008 or 2007 release but nontheless I'm still a fan of this Greek Hip-Hop band (Kubrick is one of my favorite tracks of 2008)
96. Mogwai - The Hawk is HowlingI love Mogwai but this one sounded like an extended play of previous records..It would have been much much higher if this was their 2nd or 3rd album but I just expect something more from these Scots.
95. Black Keys - Attack & ReleaseAnother solid entry that just lacked the inspiration of their previous album
94. Florence and The Machine - Kiss With a FistThis is actually a singles release but I loved Kiss with a Fist so much that I had to put this one in the list...looking forward to her debut album
93. Ryan Adams and The Cardinals - CardinologyA classic pop/rock album that sounds a bit outdated but still fully worth a number of spins
92. Tilly and the Wall - OPunchy indie pop full of rhythm..another album that I'm sure I'll regret in the future not placing it higher in the list
91. The Hold Steady - Stay PositiveDirty rock from a band however that has produced far better albums in the past..Still worth a place in the list
