Ladytron – Velocifero

The album starts off with explosive Black Cat, an electro anthem with lyrics in Bulgarian. It then gets even better with perhaps the best track on the album Ghost. Unfortunately, that’s just about it for me. From then on, the tracks seem to follow the Ladytron sound with military discipline. I do love the Ladytron sound, but I don’t need to hear the same tracks over and over again (although it is perfectly legal to copy your own style). Especially after the second Bulgarian track (Kletva…which is just awful and sounds like somebody threw the track in there by mistake) in the middle of the record, the remaining tracks sound just like an extended play of the same beat (with the exception of Deep Blue). The album also seemed too long (or perhaps I was bored too quickly). Anyhow, this is a real let-down for me, from a band that I expected much more (they really need to progress…electroclash was cool a decade ago)
