Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down In the Light
Songwriter Will Oldham is one of the most inspiring artists of our time, either as Bonnie “Prince” Billy or as Will Oldham or as Palace/Palace Songs/Palace Brothers. With his smoothing voice, touching lyrics and lo-fi folk/americana music he has created some of the most beautiful tracks and albums during the past two decades. He has also been one of the most productive artists, with almost a couple of albums hitting the shelves every year.
His latest album Lie Down in the Light was released mid May and is perhaps the most country influenced album Oldham has released so far. I don’t know if this is a logical and permanent progression (signs of Oldham moving away from lo-fi experimental folk and into traditional folk/country) or just a one-off thing. These country influences are even more evident on some of the duets with Ashley Webber. The album is also much more optimistic than his previous work, with many people quoting it as the opposite of I See Darkness. Oldham is offering us another beautiful trip into his brighter side this time, leaving you with a feeling of serenity at the end. While the album won’t add any more glory, praise or fans to Oldham, it won’t let anyone down either (especially not anyone who has fallen in love with his music). It’s just another collection of wonderful tracks, as always, but with a more country flavor this time..
Easy does it
Where is the puzzle?
I'll be glad

A full on country album by Oldham. It was exactly what i was waiting for. It's still too early and i've only listened to it a few times, but i'm already hooked.
It doesn't take much to get re-hooked to Oldham...
